A Glimpse of Destiny

Kylie has been taking ballet for the last three months or so. She has loved it and is quite good. The first semester ended in January and as I was preparing to register her for the next semester I wondered if maybe she would like some other activity more. We discussed different things from Karate to Gymnastics and decided to try a month of gymnastics.

Right away there was something different about her as we walked into the first class. She seemed more excited and just...different. As the class started and she engaged in the activities I had a strange reaction. I was amazingly proud of her and, honestly (or embarrassingly) got kind of choked up and teary eyed. I know this may be over dramatic, but it was like this is what she was meant to be doing.

As I was explaining this reaction of mine to a friend I started wondering why I felt this way. Was this some sort of destiny moment for Kylie? Is she meant to be the next great gymnast? I don't quite think that is it. I think God was giving me a glimpse of what it is to walk in purpose, to step into a bit of destiny.

I loved seeing Kylie in ballet, loved watching her dance around and be all calm and controlled. But, for those of you who know Kylie even a little - calm is not a word that describes her. When she was flipping on the bars or somersaulting into the foam pit - it was beyond words! Is this a bit of how God feels? Does he enjoy seeing me do good things, things that I enjoy and find fulfillment in? Yes! But is He all the more elated and ecstatic when I realize and jump into what I was made for? Yes and even more Yes!

Great post Danni. I'm sure that God looks upon you and your family all the time and He gets all chokes up by what He sees.

I like the thought that "fun" is planned into our destiny.

Besides, gymnastics sounds like great training ground for worship!

I need to get me a foam pit

I love this post!
Though I am a bit worried now that shadraq is serious about that foam pit!
Whenever you share your wisdom with me or I over hear you with others I always feels like you are walking in just a bit of destiny!
There is so much to this Danni girl!!

Okay now I am singing "oh danni girl" instead of "oh danni boy" in my head!

Still Singing...

"Oh Danni girl, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side..."

Hey, that is my husband's song... :]
Touching moment to share with us. I love the destiny that you are living in right now, that of being a great mother, with all the tenderness and awareness of your children’s moments.
Like Mary you have seen those moments and giftings in your children’s lives, and have kept them and pondered them in your heart. Luke 2:19
